Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Shaneka Williams.
I’m an artist, designer, sewist and teacher. Put simply, I’m obsessed with making in general.
My creative journey began early. I was forever drawing, colouring in, you name it. I can vividly remember having a ridiculous amount of fun with the Tracey Beaker Creativity Kit.
This continued into adolescence and developed alongside a new interest in textiles. I got my first sewing machine in high school and made a waistcoat, amongst other things. However, garment making went on hiatus whilst I got a Fine Art degree and became an Art teacher.
In 2018, I decided to take a series of dressmaking classes after a failed attempt at making a top. Fast forward a few years and my love of garment making and fabric has given rise to a new passion; surface pattern design.
This space is where I’ll be showcasing my sewing, art, and design work. Feel free to stay a while.
